The Walking Post is an online resource and newsletter curated by Andreas Eigenmann. It’s well worth a visit (and signing up for the newsletter). Of particular interest to me are Walking, Running, Thinking, responding to Will Self’s piece in the Guardian on a long walk, and a series of posts on Mark Rowlands’ work on running and thinking. There’s a quotation from Rowlands which captures a familiar experience:
I have lost count of the number of times that a problem I have been trying to solve – and my business is hard, abstract, conceptual problems – has suddenly resolved itself, or if not that dissolved before my eyes, during a run. Part of this almost certainly lies in the idea of rhythm.
There’s much else besides – a great site.
